Importance of Sinus Lift

One of the Critical Factors in Success Treatment for Dental implants  is to have Sufficient Bone availability.

Many people who need an implant in their upper jaw especially between the First Pre-Molars to 2nd Molar Area, often have an insufficient bone to support the implant. In such situations, a sinus lift coupled with Dental Bone Grafting may be necessary. This corrective, restorative surgical procedure makes it possible for you to get an implant even after suffering bone loss!

What to Expect with Sinus Lift - Dental Bone Grafting?

Sinus lift treatment procedure can provide you with the best opportunity for a successful dental implant in the upper back region of the jaw. These areas are one of the most difficult areas to place an implant because of low bone Quality and quantity due to its close proximity to the sinus.

During a sinus lift procedure, your maxillary sinus membrane is lifted upwards to make space for additional bone. Then the bone is grafted to the upper jaw at the position of the molar or premolar teeth and sufficient time to heal is given.

Patients who needs a sinus lift?

Our doctors recommend a sinus lift procedure or bone grafting procedure only if you have an inadequate amount of bone. However this situation arises when…

  • Previously some Damage has been done to the jaw bone
  • Gum Disease has resulted into sever bone loss.
  • Tooth Extraction caused your jaw bone to recede (a process known as resorption).
  • Removal of cyst or tumor from the area
  • Naturally large sinus cavity or thin jaw bone was present

Patients who needs a sinus lift

“By writing this review I want to express my gratitude to Dr. Mohit Dhawan and his team. I certainly made the right choice after having three consultations, before I visited ADC. What impressed me the most is that he doesn't try to convince you to do treatments which aren't necessary as I have experienced some dentists try to convince you for treatments which aren't actually needed. I had an accident last year in which I lost a tooth and Dr. Mohit suggested me for a dental implant. Now, I feel much more confident about my smile."

What to Expect with Dental Bone Grafting?

Since more and more people have started opting for dental implants for missing teeth, sinus lifts have become very common. There are three options when it comes to selecting a bone for the sinus lift surgery

  • The bone grafting could be from your own body which is called an Autogenous bone.
  • The bone grafting could be from a cadaver which is called Allogeneic bone.
  • A cow bone can be used which is called a Xenograft.

As a priority our doctors prefer to harvest the bone from the patient’s own jaw bone, for it is most easily accepted and exhibits best results. In certain special cases, there are chances that the doctors use Allogenic bone or Xenografts. Whatever is the decision we will keep you fully informed. With Latest techniques the doctors are able to decipher the height or thickness of the bone required and accordingly suggest the graft that needs to be used to perform the surgery.
